I have to admit... while I enjoy all of nature, I really like the little guys, the insects. And I have a slightly unhealthy obsession with moths. There are over 2500 species of moth in the UK, and there appears to be am almost limitless variety in size, colour, and shape. I am aiming to get images of as many different species as I can find.
These have all been caught in my moth trap. My trap is basic, with a really bright light and a white sheet, there are much more sophisticated versions out there. When they appear in the trap I put them in little pots and patiently start trying to ID them (some are much easier to ID than others). In the morning I place them onto the coloured backgrounds and take these images. In the evening, after I have the shots I need, I then release them. This is usually just after dusk, to minimise any danger from birds.
